2016 has been a rough year: the ongoing crisis in Syria, attacks in Turkey, France and Belgium, the massacre in Orlando, the senseless killing of innocent people on both sides of the racially charged police brutality controversy.
It seems like the world really needed this
remake of the 2003 hit, “Where Is The Love?” by the Black Eyed Peas.
The band reunited to make a new version of the song with a simple but powerful music video. The hip hop undertones of the original have been replaced with a subtle electronic vibe, and the band members (will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap, and Taboo) appear in simple black and white portrait style along with
at least 32 other celebrities and noteworthy people.
As expected, the message of the song and video promotes peace and brotherly love across all the lines that might divide us: race, religion, politics, national origin, etc.
Warning: the images in the video are pretty intense. But that’s the point: things have gotten way out of hand.
Here’s the list of all the stars in the new video that I was able to find/identify – let me know if I missed anyone (there are lots more than I couldn’t make out)!
