Justin Bieber’s 8th Entry in the Guinness Book of World Records

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying the success of Justin Bieber’s career – at the tender age of 22, he’s pulling in roughly $70 million per year and has a net worth of approximately $200 million. His lightning fast ascent from a YouTube cover artist to one of the most famous young artists on the planet has certainly brought its challenges, and he hasn’t always handled his new found fame gracefully, but he seems to be growing into it now.

His newest album Purpose, released last year, has been very well-received, and is the reason Bieber’s name will be appearing in the Guinness Book of World Records for the eighth time. His army of “Beliebers” saw to it that the album racked up more than 200 million plays in one week. The hit song “What Do You Mean?” also earned him a world record as the most-listened to song on Spotify in one week (30 million plays).

Previously, Bieber made it into the book for having the most simultaneous singles on the US Billboard charts (December 2015, with 17 of his songs on the charts at the same time). Another record of his happened in the UK, where on January 14 of this year, the top 3 most-sold songs all belonged to Bieber (Love Yourself at #1, Sorry at #2, and What Do You Mean? at #3).

I think Justin Bieber’s music must be a guilty pleasure for millions of people, in his native Canada, the US, and abroad, because I honestly don’t think I’ve ever come across someone who admitted to being a Bieber fan… but looking at the numbers, it’s clear that his fan base is enormous. In fact, one of his other world records is having the most Twitter followers of any man in the world. That’s 85 million Belibers right there.
